Water Lilies for sale
While there are many different varieties of water lilies there are
only two kinds. Tropical and Hardy.
TROPICAL water lilies are a bit more difficult to keep in colder climates because
they will need to be brought into a garage (in a container) or other shelter that dose not freeze during the cold months of
winter. If you have the room to accommodate them it is well worth it. They are the most showy of the two varieties with more
flower petals & larger blooms than a hardy lily and they are held above the waters surface on stout stems. Tropical lilies
come in day blooming or night blooming varieties and boast a strong sweet fragrance adding yet another delight to the vast
pleasures of the water garden.
HARDY water lilies are much easier to care for and still quite beautiful. Just keep the
pot below the freeze level of the water and divide the rhizomes before the container becomes over crowded. The hardy lily
blooms in the morning and closes up for the night in the early evening. Some shade during the hottest part of the day will
maximize the blooming potential as they do not tolerate long periods of extreme heat very well.
